The Ultimate Guide to Cleaning and Sealing Your Driveway
Maintaining the aesthetic appeal and longevity of your driveway is essential to enhancing your home's curb appeal. One of the most effective ways to achieve this is by regularly cleaning and sealing your driveway.

In this comprehensive guide, we'll walk you through the step-by-step procedures for cleaning and sealing your driveway, ensuring it remains a beautiful and functional part of your property.
Tools and Materials You'll Need:
Before diving into the procedures, gather the following tools and materials:

1. Pressure Washer
2. Stiff Bristle Brush
3. Paver Cleaner or Degreaser
4. Bucket
5. Garden Hose
6. Protective Gear (Gloves, Safety Glasses)
7. Paver Sealant (Penetrating Sealer or Solvent based Sealer)
8. Sealant Applicator (Roller or Sprayer)
9. Edging Tool
10. Polymeric sand (fill joints)
11. Hand Blower (Gas or Electric)

Step 1: Prepare Your Brick Paver Driveway:
Commence by removing loose debris like leaves, twigs, and dirt from the surface.
Trim any vegetation growing between the paver joints. Edge any grass or landscape that is growing over the pavers.

Consider spraying paver joints with a selective herbicide to remove any weeds growing in the joints of your pavers. (Leave for a few days for the application to get down to the root and eliminate any growth.)

Step 2: Address Any Paver Issues:
If your brick paver driveway exhibits any defects or shifts, now is the time to rectify them. Repair uneven pavers and reposition any sunken or shifted ones.

Step 3: Clean Your Brick Paver Driveway:
1. Dilute the paver cleaner or degreaser in a bucket, adhering to the manufacturer's                  guidelines.

2. Wet the entire brick paver driveway with a garden hose.

3. Apply the cleaner or degreaser evenly across the pavers and scrub it in with a stiff bristle      brush.

4. Allow the cleaner to sit for the specified duration (usually 10-15 minutes) to break down      stains and grime. Important not to let cleaner dry on pavers.

5. Use a pressure washer fitted with a wide-angle nozzle to thoroughly rinse the driveway.        Or for a consistent clean, use a disk cleaner to get an even clean throughout entire                surface. Start from one end and progress to the other, ensuring uniform coverage.

6. If paver joints are soft, take turbo tip and work that loose sand out so that it can be                replaced with new joint sand.

Step 4: Apply polymeric sand to joints:
1. Add polymeric sand to entire surface, by sweeping into joints.

2. Blow off any sand left on paver surface. Note: If you ignore this step, sand will adhere to      the top of your pavers and paver will have ruff sandy finish.

3. Apply a light mist to joints to activate the sand. Follow manufactures directions when            applying polymeric sand.

4. Allow joints to dry for 24 hrs.

Step 5: Seal Your Brick Paver Driveway:
1. Check the weather forecast – choose a dry day with temperatures between 50°F and            80°F for sealing.

2. Stir the paver sealant meticulously, adhering to the manufacturer's recommendations.

3. Begin at one end of the driveway, pouring a small amount of sealant onto the pavers.

4. Utilize a roller or sprayer to apply the sealant evenly, working in small sections.

5. Apply a second coat if instructed by the manufacturer, making sure it slightly overlaps          with the first coat.

6. Allow the sealant to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions (usually 24-48              hours).
Step 6: Maintain Your Brick Paver Driveway:
Regularly sweep and clean your brick paver driveway to prevent debris accumulation.

Reapply sealant as needed, typically every 3 years, and replenish paver joint sand for joint stabilization.

Cleaning and sealing your brick paver driveway is a fulfilling DIY project that not only enhances your home's aesthetics but also extends the life of this beautiful feature.

By following these steps and caring for your brick paver driveway diligently, you'll enjoy a pristine, charming, and long-lasting surface that adds value to your property for years to come.
